“You look like you haven’t bathed,” Those were the words my mother would always throw at me whenever I refused to comb my hair a certain way or apply some powder that I hated. I always acted like I never cared, but everytime she said so, I would stare at myself in the mirror feeling undesirable. The more I heard these sentences, the more I convinced myself that I really didn’t look like I bathed. That I was ugly.
